What is the Homestay Referral Program?

What it does

The Homestay Referral Program recognizes and rewards current host families who help recruit new families to host international students in the Kootenay Lake International Program.

Why it exists

Many host families join the program through personal referrals. To thank those who spread the word and support the program, we offer a $400 referral reward.

How it works

  1. The referring family contacts their Homestay Contractor with the referral information.
  2. The new family completes the Host Family Application and names the referring family.
  3. The new family undergoes the standard screening process:
  • Home visit
  • Signing the Host Family Agreement
  • Submitting required documents
  • Criminal Record Checks for all household members aged 19+
  1. Once approved and a student arrives in their home, the referring family receives $400 after the new host family successfully completes at least one month of hosting.
